THE 59 VETS PROJECT WANTS TO TELL YOU WHAT LOWE’S DID!

SHARE THIS HEARTWARMING VET’S STORY WITH EVERYONE!
One of the most important and first things our military veterans need is gainful employment, i.e., a job! So all of us here at the 59 VETERANS PROJECT really respect and appreciate small and big businesses throughout the country who provide jobs to our veterans
Well, what we have here is a business who took this one step further, and in a most admirable way! Watch this short heartwarming video and join us in giving a hand salute to Lowe’s in Abilene, Texas!

The Story of Billy Mitchell by the 59 Vets Project!

Billy Mitchell

PLEASE SHARE OUR INFORMATIVE POST!
William Lendrum “Billy” Mitchell (Dec. 29, 1879 – Feb. 19, 1936) was a very brave and outspoken military man. He was also a distinguished United States Army general who is regarded as the father of the United States Air Force.
Billy Mitchell served in France during World War I and commanded and flew hundreds of combat missions into enemy territory. He was also a fighter ace and highly decorated veteran, recognized as one of the top American airmen of the war with aces such as his good friend, Eddie Rickenbacker, and Billy was probably the best-known American in Europe. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Distinguished Service Medal, the World War I Victory Medal with eight campaign clasps, and several distinguished foreign decorations
He antagonized many leaders of the Army with his arguments for air power and, in 1925, was demoted to his permanent rank of colonel due to his insubordination while trying to save the lives of thousands of fellow troops. Later that year, he was court-martialed for insubordination after accusing Army and Navy leaders of an “almost treasonable administration of the national defense” for investing in battleships instead of aircraft carriers. He resigned from the service soon thereafter.
Mitchell received many honors following his death, including a commission as a major general by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He is also the only individual for whom an American military aircraft design is named (the North American B-25).

Touched by Hannah filmmaker Chris Hennessy is having a tough week. But it won’t dampen his gusto and passion for making Touched by Hannah a theatrical experience!  We thought we’d share his remarks today, and are sending him a “Feel Better” email with lots of smileys!

FROM CHRIS:
“I was actually being poisoned to death from the dye they shot into me for the scans. These exams, cat scans and MRIs aren’t any fun, that’s for sure.  But I’m on antibiotics now and going to rest and hopefully recover through the weekend. Thanks so much for all your love, prayers and support. Bed all day today, though, and lots of zzzzzzzz.”

DADDY, HANNAH & ICE CREAM!

CHRIS WITH HANNAH AND ICE CREAMIT’S TIME FOR SOME LAUGHTER!

Marry Me:

An elderly widow and widower were dating for about five years. The man finally decided to ask her to marry. She immediately said “yes.”

The next morning when he awoke, he couldn’t remember what her answer was! “Was she happy? I think so, wait, no, she looked at me funny…”

After about an hour of trying to remember to no avail, he got on the telephone and gave her a call. Embarrassed, he admitted that he didn’t remember her answer to the marriage proposal.

“Oh,” she said, “I’m so glad you called. I remembered saying ‘yes’ to someone, but I couldn’t remember who it was.”

Health Professionals in Heaven:

Three nurses died and went to Heaven. They were met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter, who questioned them.

“What did you used to do back on Earth?” he asked the first nurse. “Why do you think you should be allowed into Heaven?”

She told him, “I was a nurse at an inner city hospital. I worked to bring healing and peace to many sufferers, especially poor children.”

“Very noble. You may enter.” And he ushered her through the gates. He asked the same questions to the next nurse.

“I was a missionary nurse in the Amazon. For many years I worked with a small group of doctors and nurses to help people in numerous tribes, healing them and telling them of God’s love.” The second nurse replied.

“Excellent!” said St. Peter. And he ushered her through the gates as well. Finally he posed his questions to the third nurse.

She hesitated, then explained, “I was just a nurse at an HMO.”

St. Peter considered her answer for a moment, then told her, “Well, you can enter, too.”

“Wow!” the nurse exclaimed in relief. “I almost thought you weren’t going to let me in.”

“Oh, you can certainly come in,” St. Peter told her, “but you can only stay for three days.”

Volvo Driver:

An old guy in his Volvo is driving home from work when his wife rings him on his car phone.

“Honey,” she says in a worried voice, “Be careful! There was a bit on the news just now, some lunatic is driving the wrong way down the freeway.”

“It’s worse than that,” he replies, “There are hundreds of them!”
