The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial

PLEASE READ, REVERE & SHARE!

Our National Park Service has the distinction and honor of overseeing and preserving the many battlefields, military parks, and historic sites that honor and commemorate the service of our American veterans. Well, on October 5, 2014, its newest site, the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, was dedicated in Washington, D.C. to honor the courage and sacrifice of all disabled veterans who served and will serve in our country’s military forces.

It’s a magnificent edifice, as pictured here. And the 59 Veterans Project looks forward with enthusiasm and honor to working with the National Park Service as we launch our program to help military veterans. it too is going to be magnificent! And we welcome your support and participation as well as your comments, questions, likes and shares here on Facebook and our other social networks.

59 VETERANS PROJECT: AND WE HAVE A WINNER! PLEASE SHARE!!

3Dimage1AND WE HAVE A WINNER!  PLEASE SHARE!!

We wish to thank everyone who responded to our “Name that National Park Feature” question.  We got a lot of responses here on Facebook and over on Google+, Twitter and elsewhere.  And we really appreciate everyone’s participation and submission.  However, the person to answer the question correctly is Mr. Quang-Tuan Luong, who is himself a professional photography (and apparently a national parks buff!) and has a very nice photographic profile here on Facebook.  We congratulate Quang-Tuan Luong on having the right answer, and look forward to hearing more from him and everyone else who are friends to the 59 VETERANS PROJECT here on Facebook.

AND THE ANSWER IS…

The national park is Bryce Canyon. The feature is Thor’s Hammer.

If you ever get a chance to see it in person, it’s an unforgettable experience!  By the way, way down on the right of the prominent rock formation you’ll see a Pondrosa pine. It’s actually 150 feet tall.  So just imagine how monstrously huge is the feature itself…and to stand at the very bottom of it looking up!

Again, thanks to everyone for participating.  This was fun.  And we need to do it more often!  Here on our Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/59veterans?ref=hl

Touched by Hannah filmmaker Chris Hennessy is having a tough week. But it won’t dampen his gusto and passion for making Touched by Hannah a theatrical experience!  We thought we’d share his remarks today, and are sending him a “Feel Better” email with lots of smileys!

FROM CHRIS:
“I was actually being poisoned to death from the dye they shot into me for the scans. These exams, cat scans and MRIs aren’t any fun, that’s for sure.  But I’m on antibiotics now and going to rest and hopefully recover through the weekend. Thanks so much for all your love, prayers and support. Bed all day today, though, and lots of zzzzzzzz.”
