Thailand Will Have HSR Within Six Years!

PLEASE SHARE WITH HIGH SPEED RAIL LOVERS!

More than 500 Japanese firms led by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Investment (METI) are traveling to Thailand this month to discuss and plan the building of a high speed rail line to run between Thailand’s major cities of Bangkok and Rayong (a distance of 193 km).

Construction on the line is slated to begin next year, to be completed and up and running by 2023–a mere six years from now. Trains will travel at 160km per hour, and the The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) estimates at least 103,000 people will travel the rail daily, while tourism and commerce improve substantially throughout the region.

The question is, will all of Asia have tens of thousands of miles of HSR and be completely connected by super-speed transportation within a few more years before the United States even lays one foot of bullet train track?

THAILAND

This is a pretty sad commentary upon the greatest and most industrialized nation in the world. You think?

CONTAGIOUS SMILES

LOVER WALKING BYWALK THIS BY YOUR FRIENDS & SHARE!

As a professional writer, there are numerous writing and editing services I provide professional businesses and individuals alike. One of these is writing personalized poems. Almost regardless of the subject or specifics, I can probably write you an elegant and poignant poem to memorialize that special person or event you have in mind. And my fees are quite reasonable! Plus, I will write it in true verse, with rhyme and meter and structure and depth! Drop me a note and I’ll tell you how I can write you a poem that is uniquely yours.

In the meantime, here is a poem that might put a smile on your face!

CONTAGIOUS SMILES

Oh, I see the contagious smile you give me
Walking by one day along this lonely street.
There ought to be a law against such beauty
Smiling at you…but impossible to meet.

But come now, my dear, stop and test the waters.
It’s warm here, and should be for the longest while.
As for those moments when your courage falters,
Oh, I will save you with a contagious smile!

Then after some wine and words shared together,
I’ll offer my heart to you and tell you why
Ah, I have loved you always and forever…
Since waiting a lifetime for you to walk by.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

CHANGE

SHARE WITH LIKE-MINDED FRIENDS:

I’m in a philosophical-poetical mood today.  So here’s a poem of mine for all my friends here and elsewhere who enjoy philosophy and poetry.  And might be in the same mood or wishing to become so!

FIRST THINGS FIRST

There was a time not so long ago in my life
My purpose had been to change the world around me,
And put an end to things like poverty and strife
And stand up and fight oppression and tyranny.

Ah, it was long ago and of a younger wrath
When noble were the many choices I had made.
And yet, though mine was spent upon a righteous path,
It was a lonely and unfulfilling crusade.

For soon thereafter and also not long ago,
In the very moment I thought my cause was won,
Again rose the presence of my unbeknownst foe
From the very place where before there had stood none!–

Like a desolate ghost reflected in a mirror,
Like a disentombed sage whispering in my ear:
“Ah, your goal to change the world is righteous and true,
But before it can be done, you must first change you!”

THE UNSUFFERING SEA

READ, ENJOY & FEEL FREE TO SHARE!

The sea is a great metaphor for many a thing, be it a belief, a conviction or an idea. I love writing about it and letting it serve as the backdrop to a story I have to tell or an experience that needs to be shared. And I can be hired to even write a poem about your experience or the unique story you need to tell. And if it be no more than a dream, then that’s a story that also needs to be shared and told! Like this one here:

THE UNSUFFERING SEA

Hopes of bravery can be inspired from the sea.
And evoke thoughts of wisdom to guide us through youth.
It suffers not fools who think the telling of lies
Might somehow extinguish the existence of truth.

There in the restless waves droplets of passion rise,
In fierce forms and storms from the spiritual above!
They suffer not doubt that may dwell in you and me
Who fear hate or greed is ever stronger than love.

The sea is sacrosanct and our stern redeemer,
And gives of salvation what is entirely free!
It suffers not those who conceive wealth and power
Could ever replace honor and integrity.

For dreams soar here, even in life’s darkest hour,
And flow from the sea in an ever-endless stream!
It suffers not fools who think killing the dreamer
Might somehow in some way ever destroy the dream.

A BEAUTIFUL SMILE

FOR YOUR READING PLEASURE!

As you know, every Friday is POET’S Day. And this being the case, it’s only right I post a verse or two to commemorate the occasion. So here’s a poem for those of you who enjoy romantic poetry, who remain young at heart and hopeful, and know full well that LOVE IS ALL.

A BEAUTIFUL SMILE

Sometimes you come to a place and think love isn’t true,
And all those white clouds you believed in are gray and black.
Then you decide that it is easier not to do
Than risk loving someone who may never love you back.

Ah, were it if you could get tired of turning away
And pretending you never wanted what you’ll never miss.
Yet every time you convince yourself you shouldn’t stay,
Love slips in and speaks to you with lips you long to kiss!

For I know the pain you feel and the load you carry,
As there are many like us whose hearts have felt jaded.
While lies and betrayal are impossible to bury,
It’s more painful to resurrect what time has faded.

But might you remain so young and never grow too old
That you ever give up hope or think your life is done.
For time yet waits to bring in warmth and keep out the cold
And share with two who would learn of love…then become one!

So then, just when you think you’ve given up completely
The longing to love again and the joy to exist,
Just then, love stops and turns…and smiles at you so sweetly.
(And you know, a beautiful smile is hard to resist!)

THIS WEEK’S BAR QUOTES – (from 04-23-10)

Writing is rewriting. A writer must learn to deepen characters, trim writing, intensify scenes. To fall in love with the first draft to the point where one cannot change it is to greatly enhance the prospects of never publishing.

SOMEWHERE

SOMEWHEREI know somewhere out there is the love worth spending one’s life to find.  Not only this, but it is truly worth living for, and of course worth dying for.  It’s the ultimate of happiness and joy everyone seeks.  And I want you to also know that it’s out there…somewhere.

Patrick The Poet

SOMEWHERE

Once after the horror of speechlessness becomes you
And seems no longer a stranger you carry along,
Every wound turns into a scar that only numbs you
While helpless words will return to tell you to be strong.
For yes, how dare someone swear to be true and love you
And then betray you as silence would an empty song?
If there were stars and angels in the skies above you
Would they ever guide your heart to suffer such a wrong?

No, I would look to the seas and the waves to steer me
To some region of honesty and trust I could find.
Not so much because I seek illusion to cheer me
To a safe port where truth is not just a state of mind;
But because I was taught that love would one day save me
(As it seeks to save every soul whose heart is so blind!)
Then I would accept all the grief and pain it gave me
If only love were real and could ever be defined.

Yet somewhere my heart looks beyond betrayal and distrust
And beyond the pale of my own hopeless prayers and cries,
That there is a good reason why we live our lives–all of us,
To find and never lose the gleam in a lover’s eyes!
Ah, were it ever true as death comes dust unto dust.
(And would it remain true the first time we caught its guise!)
That never would I be speechless for any of us!
From knowing that somewhere there is love that never dies.

SAIL AWAY and EULOGY TO LOVE

LOST LOVE

I discovered David Gray in 2004, at a time of loss and sadness in my life.  This song here is one of the very first I heard by this remarkable singer/songwriter, and it almost became my favorite song ever.  It’s impassioned, poignant and sensitive–just like a great song should be.  Were it I could have sailed away with my one true love back then.

But at least now and forever there’s this song to listen to, and this poem I wrote to accompany it…and her.

EULOGY TO LOVE

I fold my arms around you,
You slip into my embrace.
While the anguish of my tears
Seems mirrored upon your face.

So I imagine them there,
Like sunlight on rainy days;
My lips kissing memories,
Like sweet lies the truth betrays.

Still I savor one last kiss,
Then lift you into your grave.
One last kiss to court the past,
And the life love failed to save.

Gone is the warmth of your lips,
Gone the treasure of your breath.
And though everything is gone,
You are beautiful in death!

For a faint smile lines your face.
Sunlight lingers in your hair.
And though life seems present still,
It’s as lifeless as despair.

Were it I could steal away
And give even one more kiss.
Instead of embracing death,
And giving more tears to this!

Yet such are life’s memories
Death scars with tears and regret:
Too painful to remember.
Too beautiful to forget.

BEAUTIFUL LIPS

Beautiful lips

Someone I once really loved had the most beautiful lips I’ve ever seen or kissed.  So, naturally, a poem was demanded to be written and this whole issue be addressed appropriately!

Patrick The Poet

BEAUTIFUL LIPS

Your lips are so beautiful and sweet,
My eyes should not ever stop gazing.
Though if others there be more complete,
They could never be more amazing!

For a fool he’ll be in the making
Who spent not one moment missing them.
How could love go without the taking?
Or spend one day without kissing them?
