SALUTE TO MOH VETERANS!

1MOHS

A few days ago (March 25) our nation celebrated National Medal of Honor Day, commemorating veterans past and present who were awarded our country’s highest honor for courage and valor.

Two of our favorite MOH recipients (whose pics are included here) are Audie Murphy, the most decorated U.S. veteran of World War II (who later became a famous film star!), and Marine Sgt. Maj. Dan Daly who received not one but two Medals of Honor as well as the Navy Cross. Other notable MOH recipients include:

Army Staff Sgt. Robert Miller, Afghanistan war
Army MSgt. Gary Gordon/Sgt.1stC Randall Shughart, Somalia
Air Force Capt. John Walmsley, Korean War
Navy Rear Adm. Richard Nott Antrim, World War II
Marine Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler, Invasion of Haiti (2 MOHs!)

Virgin Islands National Park by the 59 Veterans!

A PARK OF SHEER BEAUTY TO SHARE WITH OUR U.S. VETERANS!

Virgin Islands National Park located (of course!) in the Virgin Islands amidst the vast Caribbean Sea may just well be our nation’s most beautiful national park.

Consisting of the main islands of Saint Croix, Saint John and Saint Thomas, and numerous minor islands, the U.S. Territory is part of the Virgin Islands archipelago and the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles just east of Puerto Rico and west of the British Virgin Islands.

The island park exists entirely on Saint John and preserves ancient Taíno archaeological sites and sugar plantation ruins that date from the time of Christopher Columbus.

Saint John is rich with foliage and hundreds of flora and wildlife species that include mangrove forests, seagrass beds, and coral reefs. But its pristine beaches may be the most beautiful in the world, a paradise unlike any other, and the ultimate spot for swimming, surfing, sailing, snorkeling, and just hanging out to work on your perfect tan!

To learn more about this beautiful national park, we recommend visiting the National Park Service site online. And please visit us the 59 Veterans here on Facebook or LinkedIn to learn about our project to help veterans. We welcome everyone to join us as we ascend this lofty summit!

A VETERANS SHOUT-OUT FOR THE WEEKEND!

Like most Americans across the country, all of us here at the 59 Veterans Project really look forward to the weekend and spending quality time with family and friends.

But before we head out to the mall, for a drive along the coast, to a sporting event or concert or a Saturday barbecue in the backyard, we wanted to take a moment to think of our military veterans and those serving at outposts throughout the world. And those who have given “…the last full measure of devotion.”

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. We salute you! 🇺🇸️💖
