DESERT LOYALTY

Sunny Desert Wallpapers, Sunny Desert Download, Sunny Desert Pictures

For the holiday season and the coming of hopefully a better year, this poem is dedicated to all my dearest friends and fellow true believers.

Patrick The Poet

DESERT LOYALTY

Once you found yourself alone…far from trust and paradise,
Bereft of all those you gave every ounce of loyalty to.
Though now these sands are harsh and hot–they are as cold as ice!
And rife with the rage of a world that has turned against you.
Yet time after time another promise has come along…
Heard from the lips of ardent friendships that swore to be true.
Instead, you were left to die…like silence murders a song,
Or as wind does over the sand…to leave the desert askew!

Then here upon this barren plain you happened upon me.
To find and save my life when I was at death’s very brink.
Still, though I humbly thanked you and swore eternal loyalty,
You no more believed me…though I wrote it in mortal ink!
Now over time and other lifetimes the desert has fed
More betrayal to you, and too much disdain of me, I think.
Still, I have waited years to be thirsting and almost dead…
Ah, to find water…and give you the first and only drink!

DIVINITY

The time will probably come when you’re about to lose a family member or someone you love.  It’s especially painful if they are young and it’s way before their time.  The injustice of it can be overwhelming.  So can the shock and unpreparedness of it.  And it may be that you will try everything to save that person.  Then realize there’s nothing you can do but pray.  This is what happened to me once some years ago.  And this poem is the conclusion about it that I came up with and wrote.

Patrick The Poet

DIVINITY

So wild and dark tonight, and the winds hiss and curse
Such poignant refrains in me…begging creation.
But if I am to soothe your heart with a single verse…
I fear it will require divine inspiration.

Worse still, your life has fallen to diminished thirds
And to silencing strains of your own invention.
Still, though I would save you if I could with mere words…
I fear it will require divine intervention.

IN THE OFF-CHANCE

We all hope or pray that God will be forgiving.  And that this tenet is true as prescribed from the many scriptures and religions we all believe in.  That God may be forgiving and also merciful, there are some of us who particularly should pray this be true!

Patrick The Poet

IN THE OFF-CHANCE

Standing upon the gallows, and under a hangman’s rope
With nothing left, not even empathy or hope,
I know why the condemned pray to God or to Fate
And pray their lives be saved before it is too late:

(Because they fear or suspect it already is,
They pray God will hear their words…or they may hear His
In the off-chance God will save a life even lived in hate.)

IN GOD WE TRUST!

Check out these preambles to our 50 states.  And all this time I thought we were an Islamic or atheistic country and that  Christianity and God had and have absolutely nothing to do with our heritage and founding as a nation.  I mean, the liberal media told me so, so it has to be true, right? lol

Let us bring God back into America !

THE HUMAN HEART

DEATHLESS LOVEWhen you lose something as precious as love, and lose it forever in this life to something called death, it doesn’t have to destroy you nor ruin the rest of your days on this earth.  You can keep it and the memory of it inside your heart…like a treasure that even death can’t reach.   And you will find you can go on.

Patrick The Poet

THE HUMAN HEART

There at the bottom of the sea, inside my heart,
Lies a sunken treasure that cannot be exhumed.
For in two beds we sleep–together and apart:
Death inside a grave, and my life that is a tomb.

For the sea is a mighty force, I’ve heard it said.
To shred the human heart…like leaves from trees left bare.
Still, although the sea may never give up its dead,
The human heart can survive who gives up despair!

For the precious treasure can live bereft of strife
And can restore the life of every tomb-filled breath!
If your earnest soul can remain loyal throughout life,
Then will it be love lives on even after death.

HAPPY EASTER, ONE AND ALL!

EASTER SUNRISEI want to wish all my friends and clients and colleagues and followers here a very, very Happy Easter.  Be happy, be cheerful and be safe!  And remember to cherish everything you have in this life!

SEASHORE FLURRIES

SEASHORE LOVERSThis is for all the lonely souls out there who have given up hope of every finding love.  Don’t give up!  If you never quit, you’re never beaten.  If you never quit, love can be found!

Patrick The Poet

SEASHORE FLURRIES

I lie awake with the sound of the sea
And feel the slow-ebbing flow of high tide.
Somewhere a restless spirit pursues me:
I am not the only one who has died!
Some desperate soul not unlike my own
Wanders between the fate of sea and sand,
Who, of poignant loneliness, should have known
For such as we, this is what fate had planned:

To stroll life’s seashores without goal or aim,
And to wander for years lonely and alone;
To wait to love but without chance or claim,
Between the driftwood of seaweed and stone!–
Then to live so long without hope or faith,
Like an errant ship without sail or oar;
To possess strength and perpetual youth,
Like a child with the key but not a door,
To obtain the answer but not the truth,
This is the fate that haunts us like a wraith!

This is the roar I hear from the sea and sand!
And what these seashores of fate would have planned:
At the very moment we were flung to the tide,
The very instant our souls to death would foreswear,
At the depths of our dying or longing to have died,
(And at the heights of our suffering and despair)
Just mere seconds before we were beaten and lost!
The sea and sand would make each of us a lover,
And fate would show us seashores we had never crossed.
Then at last…two lonely souls would find each other.

SUBSIDE

TIDE ON THE BEACHLove is really not so complicated, or at least it doesn’t have to be.  It’s as simple as the sea and the tide that rushes upon the shore.  One only has to look for it to be this way.  And read this poem by moi!

Patrick The Poet

SUBSIDE

I would have you see into my heart
If only your eyes would dare to look.
In every corner in whole and part
You would read love like an open book.

There we would stroll o’er some errant shore
Hand in hand amidst the breaking tide.
And find what love must yearn to adore,
What the cold, wet surf cannot subside!

For the warm bright morning does insist
What a coy, shy heart pretends to scorn;
Love is an urge time cannot resist,
To which every true lover is sworn!

So let us claim our place with the tide
And every pleasure fear ever took.
We can have what time cannot subside,
If you fear not love and dare to look.

SACRED, SILENT VOW

I think love is a sacred thing.  But so are the oaths we swear and the vows we make.  Infidelity is not a virtue or honorable.  Loyalty and faithfulness are omnipotent.  These are strengths of character people need to have in order to achieve and to maintain successful relationships and do goodness in this life.  For betrayal is the destroyer of character and of honor, loyalty, fidelity, and love.  But temptation is the thing that can lead to betrayal.  However, there is no honor or character unless we are challenged from time to time.  And this is why God created temptation.  The secret to success when it comes to honor and character is not giving in to temptation and overcoming what overcomes us.  This is what I had to say about it here in prose.

Now here are some words I had to say about it in poetry!

SACRED, SILENT VOW

Though love is a sacred, silent vow
that neither the passage of time can diminish
nor the vicissitudes of fortune can alter,
it is as frail as a leaf
and as vulnerable as a cloud
whenever the silence
is broken by disloyalty
and the vow
is shattered by betrayal.

And though time would seduce you
and fortune would tempt you
to destroy and betray
what the soul of love has sworn
and made of you
and what you have made
and sworn to love,
it is not life nor honor
nor trust nor even love
whom you betray,
nor even time or fortune
who has made you a betrayer.
It is your soul whom you betray
and you who has chosen to betray it!

And there is nothing worst
than betraying
the sacred, silent vow
of your soul.
