Don’t take life too seriously … No one gets out alive!

HAPPINESSThis is one thought about happiness of so many it entails!

Patrick The Poet

At last it came to me after the longest wait,
That was more a search for the ultimate to find,
So much to answer for what is ascribed to fate
In the mistakes one makes when strolling through life blind.

But when clarity comes the day is always clear,
And rips back the veil from the ignorance of youth.
The search had purpose, the answer was always near,
I went looking for success and discovered truth.

So out of the long haze that had encumbered me
I strove to earn the success of a truer goal.
‘Tis one that few report they ever come to see,
Which happiness brings to every desperate soul.

So like a prayer answered by the heavens above,
Was my life guided to truth and no longer blind.
Truest success came to me…and its name was love!
Dare I now ask, can happiness be far behind?

LOVE ISIf you ever loved someone with all your heart and soul then you will understand this poem and totally relate to it.  On the other hand, if you never have loved someone in such a manner well, perhaps someday you may.  Then you can come back and revisit this poem.  And at that time you will understand it.  For sure!

Patrick The Poet

Sometimes when I confer with angels above
I thank them for the gifts passionate and sweet.
Like the gift of happiness that they call love…
And this sacred ground that lies beneath your feet!

For if your heart be true as the sky is blue,
And as true and sacred as a sacred oath,
My desolate own would live and die for you
If it could simultaneously do both!

Music would fill my eyes for my lips to taste,
And the sky would hear the sea reflect its light!
Then every moment when our hearts were embraced,
You would know why morning always follows night!

There’d be no time for quarrel but only joy!
And while we surrendered to one sacred goal,
We would know what even time cannot destroy–
The joining of two hearts who become one soul!

Yes, perhaps you think you know passion and love
Yet found them over time have always perished;
But since I have conferred with angels above,
It’s time you accept being truly cherished!

For this is yours in my own time and fashion,
If you become mine till our last breaths are drawn!
While I show you the true nature of passion,
And worship the sacred ground you walk upon.

Sometimes a thing can be happy and sad at the same time, and too painful to deal with but also incredible beautiful that you just can’t turn away from it.  This duality exists in many things in life I believe.  But what can you do but embrace the very thing you know you cannot bear to hold and suffer in your heart? What can you do when you know you cannot live without the very thing that will kill you?  Here is a poem about this very subject we all must face at some time in our lives.

–Patrick The Poet

I fold my arms around you,
You slip into my embrace.
While the anguish of my tears
Seems mirrored upon your face.

So I imagine them there,
Like sunlight on rainy days;
My lips kissing memories,
Like sweet lies the truth betrays.

Still I savor one last kiss,
Then lift you into your grave.
One last kiss to court the past,
And the life love failed to save.

Gone is the warmth of your lips,
Gone the treasure of your breath.
And though everything is gone,
You are beautiful in death!

For a faint smile lines your face.
Sunlight lingers in your hair.
And though life seems present still,
It’s as lifeless as despair!

Were it I could steal away
And give even one more kiss.
Instead of embracing death,
And giving more tears to this!

Yet such are life’s memories
Death scars with tears and regret:
Too painful to remember.
Too beautiful to forget.

Every true poet on occasion should write a general feel-good, all-is-well-with-world kind of poem, I think.  And try as hard as possible to avoid the incessant E.A. Poe, Dylan Thomas woe-is-me, all-is-dark-in-the-world way of poetry writing, I also think.  So, since today is POET’S DAY–and a lovely one at that–here is a feel-good poem of mine which, of course, I hope makes you eh, well…feel good! (:-D

Patrick The Poet

All is bright and goodness, all is bright and good.
For someone spoke precious words to me today,
And oh, somehow I listened and understood.
For her voice was soft and sweet, and sweet and kind.
But who can hear what any voice has to say
Who always found kindness difficult to find?
But since persistence is a virtue, like love,
How could I possibly ever turn away
A voice that spoke like an angel from above?
So what matter the troubles you knew and saw?
When something great and beautiful comes your way
Sometimes you must answer to an higher law.
So forget the oppressive years of your life,
Or how often all your hopes have gone astray,
Or how long you have seen loneliness and strife.
Let it be known and generally understood,
When someone should tell you “I love you” one day,
Make sure you’re ready to feel happy and good!

Just so you know, I believe it’s totally all right to be a guy and love love poems.  Even passionate love poems!  And it’s also okay not only to love them, but to write them.  Since I have some experience with this, I daresay I speak from authority as well as with…eh, well, experience!

So here’s a love poem that guys can use to give to the gals in their lives they love.  I only ask for a byline and if any money exchanges hands, I want my percentage, albeit a small tiny royalty will do!  And guys, remember: the great romantic poet Lord George Byron was a duelest, a boxer, and a great swordsman, and he didn’t take nonsense from anyone.  But he also wrote love poems.  Lots of them, in fact.  And his manhold suffered not.  So if he can do it and I can do it, so can you.  And you don’t even have to be good with a sword!

Here in our ardent morning eyes, love lies
Almost like a dream that is out of reach.
But as daybreak comes and the ocean sighs,
Two lovers awaken upon a beach.
My arms are around you–love calls it trust!
(I hold you near and dear in my fashion!)
While the jaded world holds such things as lust,
I know love is not love without passion!
For your life is mine and your soul is sweet
And I do not fear the word forever!
So as I brush the sand from your soft feet
The surf comes and merges us together!
For there is no future, there is no past.
There is only the endlessness of now!
And, as the ocean roars and the waves blast,
Every sacred kiss is a sacred vow!
The beach is warm today and we are wise
To stay and embrace love in our fashion.
For in our ardent morning eyes, love lies
As deep as the waves and full of passion!

What Love means to a 4-8 year old

What Love means to a 4-8 year old:

Slow down for three minutes to read this.  It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouth of babes. A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, ‘What does love mean?

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined See what you think:

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’
–Rebecca- age 8

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’
–Billy – age 4

‘Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.’
–Karl – age 5

‘Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.’
–Chrissy – age 6

‘Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’
–Terri – age 4

‘Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’
–Danny – age 7

‘Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.  My Mommy and Daddy are like that.  They look gross when they kiss.’
–Emily – age 8

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presentsand listen.’
–Bobby – age 7 (Wow!)

‘If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate.’
–Nikka – age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

‘Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.’
–Noelle – age 7

‘Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.’

–Jessica – age 8

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

‘Nothing, I just helped him cry’

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need. Take 60 seconds and give this a shot! All you do is simply say the following small prayer for the person who sent you this.

Heavenly Father, please bless all my friends in whatever it is that You know they may be needing this day! And may their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as he/she seeks to have a closer relationship with You. Amen.
