FOR A DANCER

younger JBMight be a hundred ways to describe this song by Jackson Browne.  Deep, philosophical, sensitive, poignant, wise, and bittersweet are several that come to mind.  I consider “For A Dancer” his third greatest written song–which ain’t easy cause almost all his songs are great and incomparable!  But this is definitely one you need to listen to, and read along–for the lyrics are included with this recording on YouTube.  I’d be curious to hear everyone’s feedback and impression after you listen to this lilting torch song about the meaning of life that Jackson Browne wrote for a friend who lost his in the Vietnam War.  What’s also neat is that The Eagles sing backup on the song!

THE BOY FROM THE COUNTRY by the one and only JD‏

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  Here is some beautiful music to add to what I hope is a beautiful day you are enjoying with family and friends.  To complement this sparkling day here is an inimitable song by the one and only John Denver.

As it is, John Denver will always occupy a special place in my heart.  For his amazingly beautiful voice and vocal range, and for the incredibly beautiful and sensitive songs that he wrote and sang.  Here is one those most superlative of all songs he wrote and sang, and it was one I used to sing myself years ago when I was in the business; and it’s a song I hope everyone will listen to.  The reasons for doing so will become oh so clear to you after you do!  Enjoy.

A Different Kind of Beautiful Music!

It’s time to expand our horizons and look beyond the safe and sure, and crawl out of our comfort zone to allow new beauty and the immense spice of variety to enter our staid hearts and minds.  So the terrible deed I have done here is offer everyone a clip of music that is opera.  Okay, okay, relax!  And please keep the outrage and screams of horror down to a low roar!  Thank you. lol

Just sit back and expand your horizons.  There is nothing you already love that you have to give up or lose.  Here is now something for you to add to it, and thus accord yourself this opportunity to explore and enjoy a new vista that is also safe and sure and immensely fulfilling.  Today’s aria (song) is called Nessun Dorma, and it is from an Italian opera called Turandot, written by a master Italian composer by the name of Giacomo Puccini.  This indelible pop song is sung by none other than the great Luciano Pavarotti, whose voice, I believe, epitomized sonic beauty and the infinite treasure that is music.

Listen and enjoy.  I have faith in you.  You can do it.  You can accomplish this incredible listening feat!

P.S.  As a bonus, I’ve also included a link to Michael Bolton singing Nessun Dorma.  And yes, Michael Bolton can sing opera, and sing it beautifully well.  In fact, it was Pavarotti who taught him!
