THE PRESENT

“The Present” I believe to be one of the greatest albums out of the many incredible ones written by The Moody Blues over the years.  If you’re a Moody Blues fan or not, I highly recommend making this album a part of your musical library.  It is filled with such sonic beauty and melodic splendor.  You will really come to thank me for it, and who knows?  Maybe even come to appreciate my strange, melodramatic ways and wry sense of humor!

Meanwhile, here is a sample from The Present, written and sung by TMB’s legendary lead singer Justin Hayward–an incredible singer/songwriter in his own right.  It’s called “Running Water” and is a favorite of mine from the band’s entire vast catalog of inimitable music.  Was a favorite of my great novelist father, too, and how I miss the times I used to play this song and the whole album for him.  In times long ago that once was The Present.  And in another meaning…still is!

Winter Has Me In Its Grip
Artist : Don McLean
Title : Winter Has Me In Its Grip
Album : Homeless Brother

Winter has me in it’s grip
Think I’ll take a summer trip
On a sunny sailing ship
Where the shells lie in the sand.

I feel so lonely
I’m too young to feel this old
I need you and you only
When the weather gets this cold.
That’s why…

Winter has me in it’s grip
Think I’ll take a summer trip
On a sunny sailing ship
Where the shells lie in the sand.

There’s no use in going
Cause it’s cold inside my heart
And it’s always snowing
Since the day we broke apart.

Winter has me in it’s grip
Think I’ll take a summer trip
On a sunny sailing ship
Where the shells lie in the sand.

I tried to run from winter
Like this spring and summer run to fall
But when the weather’s in you
There’s no hiding place at all.
That’s why…

Winter has me in it’s grip
Think I’ll take a summer trip
On a sunny sailing ship
Where the shells lie in the sand.

Half of My Heart

Há quantos anos John surgiu nas paradas de sucesso do mundo? O moço ...

I recently stumbled across this heartfelt ballad by John Mayer who, as many may know, is not only a pretty darn good songwriter but is one heck of an amazing guitar player.  This song I think is exceptional by him and it also features the one and only Taylor Swift.  So the video is almost as enjoyable as the song!

Neil Diamond – Morningside

Full Album:Neil Diamond - Moods

Back in the ’70’s this used to be my favorite song by Neil Diamond.  It’s still up there in my Top 10 list.  Recently, I stumbled across this video made back in the day for this beautiful ballad, which stars the artist.  And it’s a gem, just like the song.  Take a listen and a watch.  And enjoy the melodic, melancholic reverence of Morningside.

There Goes My Life

Kenny Chesney

Kenny Chesney remains my favorite country artist ever.  There doesn’t seem to be any song of his that doesn’t grab me and conspire to almost make me give up classical and pop/standards music and move to Nashville.  But before I do that, here’s another favorite from Kenny I’d like to share with you.  It’s a poignant and deep-meaning song, and one I hope you enjoy.  Especially watch the video.  And if you’re a dad, this song is one you should relate to and definitely enjoy.  Just make sure to have a box of tissues nearby!

Veteran Army Ranger

Bet you can’t guess who this famous person is before you click on the link!

Patrick
Veteran Army Ranger
You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw whothey were talking about…I had no idea…wait till you see who it is. What a simple but mostsincere and moving acceptance speech. Loved his recommendation for all our politicos.
Many people may have forgotten about his time in the U.S. Army. He is the son of an Air Force General, and an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer, and he graduated from Pomona College with a B.S. degree, and then became a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford University.

He joined the U.S. Army at the prompting of his father. After graduating from Officer Candidate School he attended and graduated from both Army Airborne and Ranger training in the very top of each class. He was selected for U. S. Army Special Forces Training but refused so that he could attend pilot training where he earned his wings, and became an accomplished U.S. Army helicopter (gun ship) pilot, and achieved the rank of Captain.

He was about to be promoted to the rank of Major, and appointed to teach at West Point when he resigned his commission from the Army to go into music and acting. You can tell in this video that his time in the military means a lot to him. I won’t give away who it is. You should just watch.
