“I was actually being poisoned to death from the dye they shot into me for the scans. These exams, cat scans and MRIs aren’t any fun, that’s for sure.  But I’m on antibiotics now and going to rest and hopefully recover through the weekend. Thanks so much for all your love, prayers and support. Bed all day today, though, and lots of zzzzzzzz.”

Two Awesome Songs by an Awesome New Band!

Dear Song Lovers:

At the most unexpected times and in the most unexpected places you can discover something that’s serendipitous.  And beautiful.  This happened recently to me when I was at the local Starbucks and they played these two songs.  And in one fell swoop I discovered the musical duo Ivan & Alyosha and their two songs here.  Musically and lyrically they’re both beautiful ballads, and I hope everyone on my song mailing list enjoys them too.  For magnificent music will never be dead so long as there are artists out there creating sonic beauty like this!

THE SAND

There we stood years ago, upon our emerald beach,
With pure love between us, and pure happiness within reach.
Years ago when you held my heart in the palm of your hand,
And I would caress your skin…that was the color of sand!

For how I loved and was loved by you, each and every day.
There in the summer surf, until the tide had swept away.
Then we would walk long, sweet walks along the shore…hand in hand.
And yes, how I truly loved you…and how you loved the sand!

Then cold tides reigned and dark clouds remained…for summer was past!
Then we were swept together in a life that couldn’t last.–
A life our seashore hearts never wanted…and never planned.
A life bereft of long, sweet walks…and of emerald sand.

But such is the illusion of passion and lovers’ youth,
And the bitterness that time gives maturity and truth.
The truest love you think you found and which time will withstand,
Through life’s frail fingers…can be as fleeting as grains of sand.

Still, though now I walk concrete shores and stroll an urban dawn,
And my one true love is now lost or dead, but somewhere gone;
Though I have found new life and hold some happiness in hand,
The past is not lost or dead. For God!…how I miss the sand!

HSR IS REAL AND IT CAN BE OURS!

High speed rail needs the support of big business and private enterprise. And the American public. If people knew of the many immense benefits of HSR and gave their support to it, such trains traveling at 182+ miles per hour between Chicago and New York and New York and Boston and Los Angeles and San Francisco and Dallas and Houston and Miami and Atlanta and St. Louis and Phoenix could become a reality. Even within the next 10 years.

All this is not just the stuff of fiction or fragile hope, but actual reality. Over 16,000 miles of high speed rail now exist in China. Like the famous NYC song, it can ring true throughout the U.S.: If it can make it there, it can make here…and make it everywhere! If you read our book Fast Trains you will become inspired to know this is true. And know that it exists, it is real, and it can be ours!
